Fall arrived just a couple short weeks ago, it is about time that we dive full force into the autumn season. And what a better way to kick off the start to this wonderful time of year than to begin your holiday decorations. Bring the warm colors of fall into your home with a beautiful and simple decorating project. Now I know what you're thinking, there are just so many ways to decorate your home in a tasteful and festive way for fall! Caught in the midst of the gourds, fall foliage, and pinecones, we all know from first hand that there is more than a handful of popular themes that can serve as inspiration. However, a timeless classic is always the pumpkin! Shake up your Halloween decor with these colorful glittered pumpkins. A great project for kids, creating these sparkling pumpkins is quick, easy and fun.
MATERIALS:
- Plastic Pumpkin
- Spray Paint
- Spray Adhesive
- Newspaper
- Glitter
Prepare Work Area
To begin, set down a layer of newspaper topped with a sheet of craft paper to protect the work surface. Then, select your pumpkin of various sizes and colors, and decide which ones will receive which color glitter.
Paint the Pumpkin
Next, take your pumpkin and slowly apply a thin layer of spray paint to cover the entirety of its surface. When it came time for me to execute my project, I chose primarily color of fall resemblance; though you can do whichever you desire. Wait for your paint to dry overnight before continuing.
Apply Adhesive and Glitter
Finally, spray the pumpkin thoroughly with a layer of your favorite glitter. For an added addition of fun, you can also place real glitter on your pumpkin as well! Taking your spray adhesive, apply one coat to the surface of your pumpkin. While the glue is still wet, use a spoon to sprinkle glitter over the sticky surface of the pumpkin. Allow to dry.
And there you have it! A wonderful decoration for kids that was simple, inexpensive, and a whole lot of fun. I hope that these adorable glitter bomb pumpkins kicked off your autumn season with a blast!
