Fallen Leaf Rake Cookies

It’s that time of year again! Time for carving pumpkins, drinking lattes, and let’s not forget raking leaves. When fall comes around how many of you like to get your rakes out with your friends and make big leaf piles to jump into? But after all that raking and jumping you can really work up an appetite. So today I’m going to show you a sweet and tasty snack to make for your friends as a reward for their hard work. These fallen leaves rake cookies are sure to make your friends squeal with delight and with these easy steps you’ll be raking up a fresh platter of cookies in no time!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 16 pretzel rods 8 inches long
  • 1 1/2 cups Chocolate chips
  • Fall leaves sprinkles

Steps:

Step 1: First take your 1 cup flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda and combine it in a medium bowl.

Step 2: Next in a large bowl take your 1 cup peanut butter, 1/4 cup butter, and 1/2 cup brown sugar and beat it on medium speed until it’s creamy.

Step 3: Once it’s creamy add your egg and egg yolk.

Step 4: Gradually when beating your mixture add your flour in. Make sure to have your beater on low after each addition of flour. Keep mixing until all your ingredients are blended. While you are doing this preheat your oven to 350 F.

Step 5: Once all your ingredients are mixed, make 16 dough balls about 1- 1/2 inches and set them on a ungreased pan.

Step 6: After you have your dough balls we are going to take the pretzel rods and press them half way into the dough. Then take the dough ball and press it around the pretzel rod and shape it to be more triangular. Lastly take a fork and make indentations of the bottom of the dough to resemble a rake.

Step 7: Now our cookies are ready to be baked! Youŕe going to want to let the cookies bake for 12 minutes then cool on the pan for about 3, and then on a cooling rack for about 3 more minutes.

Step 8: Now we’re going to prepare to decorate our cookies. Take some wax paper and set your cookies on it. Then take 1 1/2 cups of chocolate chips and melt them in the microwave for about 1 minute.

Step 9: Next you’re going to take the melted chocolate and drizzle it on the bottom of the cookie. For this step I used a ziploc bag and poured the melted chocolate in it. Then I cut the tip off so I could neatly drizzle the chocolate on the bottom half of the cookie.

Step 10: While the chocolate is still melted, take your leaf sprinkles and sprinkle them all over the chocolate.

Step 11: Now for this next step you can either choose to add this or finish your cookies as they are. But I choose to add a chocolate squiggle down most of my pretzels to give it an extra sweet taste. Once you are done with that just let the chocolate dry or put them in the freezer to help them dry.

Viola! You have now baked your very own batch of scrumptious fall cookies. I hope the colorful designs and the delicious taste put you in the Autumn mood! Happy Raking!
